LOUIS DREYFUS ARMATEURS


Louis Dreyfus Armateurs today owns five seismic research vessels, all chartered
to the CGGVeritas Group. CGGVeritas is the world’s leading geophysical company delivering a wide range of technologies, services and equipment to its customers mainly within the global oil and gas industry. Seismic vessels operated by CGGVeritas are able to process all seismic data on board to enhance offshore analysis efficiency. Vessels can accomodate 30 seismic engineers and are specially designed to tow up to 16 streamers (air guns). Data collected by these vessels are used by oil and gas companies for prospecting purposes and to run active offshore field operations.


ALDA MARINE


Submarine Telecommunication systems supplier Alca tel Submarine Networks (a division of Alcatel-Lucent Group) and Louis Dreyfus Armateurs have set up Alda Marine, a joint venture partnership, for the investment, development and management of vessels specialized in cable laying, burying and maintenance of sub-sea cable telecommunication networks.


This development was conducted in the following steps:


- Study and development of cable laying/burying vessel specifications,

- Shipyards selection,
- Study and setting up of financing,
- Follow-up of vessels new building and delivery,
- Crew training in order to conduct laying operations,
- Ship Management of vessels in operation,
- Setting up of the Management Department in charge of projects and operations,
- Carrying out of submarine networks laying operations,
- Carrying out of submarine networks maintenance operations,

This joint venture company was created in 2000 and the installation and maintenance
vessels have been in service since 2002. Since 2005 this company also operates 2 additional maintenance and installation vessels.

One Alda Marine vessel, Ile de Bréhat has been chartered to EMSA, the European
Maritime Safety Agency. After being transformed it has been classed as an “Oil Recovery Vessel”. With an onboard recovered oil storage capacity of 4,000 m3 it is by far the largest oil recovery vessel in the world.
