Mission:
Based on 9-week rotations, the crew member participates in watchkeeping, rounds, supervises, and handles all mooring lines during ship maneuvers. They engage in seamanship tasks, ensure ship safety, and safeguard cargo. Duties include maintenance of lifeboats, rescue rafts, chipping, and painting. They are responsible for watchkeeping on the bridge during transit or operations, monitoring at anchor when the vessel is stationary, as well as surveillance of the ship, its mooring, and gangway control.
Non-exhaustive duties:
- Supports and complies with the policies outlined in the QHSE Manual, associated procedures, and proposes any useful improvements to this management system and, if applicable, to the Client’s QHSE requirements.
- Reports any incidents that could impact the vessel and its operations, quality, safety, security, or the environment.
- Participates in various drills/training sessions and/or fire/safety teams, as per the onboard role assignments.
Prerequisites:
Initial Training:
- Seafarer holding the “Watchkeeping Rating” certification.
- A minimum of 12 months of deck service at sea after obtaining the watchkeeping rating certificate (with at least one day aboard ships of gross tonnage exceeding 500). Periods of sea service must have been completed within the five years preceding the license application.
Skills:
- STCW Certificates (CFBS, etc.): Basic Safety Training Certificate, Ship Security Awareness Certificate, and Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Certificate.
- Experience: 2 years.
Work schedule: 8 hours/day – 25 days of leave earned per month onboard.
Gross salary (K€/year): Per the Company’s Collective Agreement based on Certification.
Contract type: Permanent or Fixed-term contract / ENIM Scheme.
Hierarchy: Bosun and Ship Master.
