September 20th Statement
Suresnes, France – September 20, 2024
Owners of the Service Operation Vessel, “Wind of Hope”, (IMO 986 9045), report that the SOV allided with a wind turbine of the Hornsea 1 Wind Farm in the U.K. There are 26 crew members and 46 specialist personnel on board, none of whom were injured. There was no water ingress, nor pollution reported.
The accident, which occurred on the 19th of September at 18.38 hrs local time in daylight, resulted in damage to the starboard side of the vessel above the waterline and the helideck. There was also some damage to the base of the turbine.
The wind farm operator has created an exclusion zone around the turbine.
The “Wind of Hope” will now proceed to port for damage assessment.
All the relevant authorities have been informed and an investigation has started into the cause of the accident.
